HDPE Pipe Size Chart

Every ISO 4427-2 wall thickness from DN16 to DN2000, with PE100 pressure ratings and a weight calculator.

This is the full wall-thickness table from ISO 4427-2, the standard that most metric HDPE water pipe is made to. Rows are nominal outside diameters; columns are SDR series with the PE100 pressure class each one gives at 20 °C. Every figure was transcribed from the standard and cross-checked against a second published table — none of it is calculated from DN ÷ SDR, because the standard's own rounding does not follow that formula exactly, and a table that disagrees with the one in your buyer's hands is worse than no table.

The calculator below turns any size-and-SDR pair into wall thickness, inside diameter and an estimated mass per metre. Use the mass for freight, container loading and lifting plans. Do not use it as a contract weight: production wall sits between the minimum and maximum, and what you pay for is defined by the specification and the weighbridge, not by an average.

If your project is written to ASTM or AWWA rather than ISO, the same ratio is called DR and the outside diameters are IPS or DIPS inches, which do not coincide with metric sizes — a 4 in IPS pipe is 114.3 mm, not 110 mm. The standards pages linked at the bottom explain the differences.

Key features

  • 34 nominal sizes from DN16 to DN2000, nine SDR series from SDR 41 to SDR 7.4
  • Minimum wall thickness exactly as printed in ISO 4427-2:2007 Table 2
  • PE100 pressure class per column, based on the design coefficient C = 1.25
  • Calculator gives wall range, inside diameter and estimated kg per metre
  • Small sizes show the 2.0 / 2.3 / 3.0 mm minimums the standard applies for jointing

Wall thickness & weight calculator

Pick a nominal size and SDR. Wall thickness comes straight from ISO 4427-2 Table 2; mass is estimated from the mean wall and a PE100 density of {density} g/cm³.

Wall thickness (min – max)
6.6 – 7.4 mm
Inside diameter
≈ 96 mm
Mass per metre
≈ 2.16 kg/m
PE100 rating
PN 10

Mass is an estimate for freight and lifting only — production wall sits between the minimum and maximum, usually nearer the minimum. Contract weights are per specification and weighbridge. Density 0.96 g/cm³.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the table not match DN divided by SDR?
Because ISO 4065, the table ISO 4427 draws on, rounds in its own way. DN110 SDR 17 is 6.6 mm although 110 ÷ 17 is 6.47; DN110 SDR 7.4 is 15.1 mm although the division gives 14.9. Small sizes are additionally rounded up to 2.0, 2.3 or 3.0 mm. Always specify from the table, not from the formula.
Is the weight in the calculator what I will be invoiced for?
No. It is the mass of a pipe whose wall sits at the mid-point between minimum and maximum, at 0.955 g/cm³. Real production runs closer to the minimum, so the estimate is slightly heavy — fine for freight and crane planning, not a substitute for the specification and a weighbridge ticket.
Which SDR do I need for PN16?
SDR 11 for PE100 at 20 °C. SDR 13.6 gives PN12.5 and SDR 9 gives PN20. For PE80 every column drops one class: SDR 11 becomes PN12.5. Above 20 °C apply a temperature derating factor before choosing.
Do you make every size and SDR in this table?
We extrude solid-wall PE100 from DN20 to DN1600 in SDR 41 to SDR 7.4. DN1800 and DN2000 are in the standard but outside our extrusion range; sizes below DN20 are not something we produce.
